Firing Problems

Unfortunately, there is a small risk (3%) that your pottery bisque may be damaged in the firing process. This is because the pottery can sometimes have small faults which can only be seen after they have been through the firing process. If you are one of the unlucky few that this has happened too, we would like you to know that we would also be upset and disappointed that this has happened. Although it is beyond our control and is an accepted hazard in the industry.

Our policy is to invite you to repaint a replacement item, (the same item or same price replacement.)

Do we need to book a table?

Normally it is not required for you to book as you are welcome to drop in and paint, however, to avoid disappointment you are welcome to book a table, (online, by phone or by email). We also advise booking a table during the school holidays or in the run-up to Christmas, Mothers Day and Fathers Day.

Do I need to be artistic?

Definitely not! We have a wide selection of stencils, sponges, stamps and idea books. Our welcoming and experienced staff are on hand to assist you with ideas, techniques and suggestions.

Do you have protective aprons for adults and children?

We do have aprons for both adults and children. The paint will also come out of your clothes as they are water based and none toxic.

If I can't paint, will you paint for me?

Yes, you can commission us to paint a piece especially for you. We are happy to talk through ideas and create a bespoke piece. Please note that there will be a charge for the artists time and work.

How much does it cost?

Our smallest pottery pieces start from £5!  On top of the pottery price, we also charge a £3 studio fee (per painter), covering the cost of the glaze, paints and firing. There are over 100 items of pottery to choose from so there is something for everyone's taste and pocket.

How many days until my piece is ready to collect?

It usually takes up to 7 days but this will be longer during busy holiday periods. We always do our best to process the items quickly if they are needed for a special occasion. It is usually best to mention this when booking your table. If there is a large order which needs to be fired specially or separately, we may need to make an additional charge.

Can I pay by card?

Yes. We take payments by cash and card.

What if I am not happy with my finished product?

Sometimes faults can occur during the firing and glazing process that are beyond our control. If you are one of the few this happens too, our policy is to offer you a replacement painting session to re-do the item.

Is there anywhere to park close by?

Yes, there is a car park directly behind the shop with 2 dedicated parking spaces. There are also pay and display car parks near by (Shaw Heath).

Do you have baby changing facilities?

Yes. We do.

Is the premises wheelchair accessible?

Yes, there is a ramp into the building at the back of the studio. We also have accessible toilets and facilities on the ground floor. If you require a parking spot close by, please contact us in advance and we will do our best to secure one for you.

How long can we stay and paint? What happens if I do not finish in time?

We recommend that you book your table for 1.5 hours. Some people finish before that time or after. We are more than happy for customers to stay longer, providing we do not have a queue for tables. Some people like to make two visits to the shop to complete their pottery, which is also fine. Although, please note that we may have to charge a studio fee for the second or subsequent visits.

Is the pottery microwave / dishwasher safe?

Your pottery is not safe for the microwave but, it will be safe for the occasional dishwasher use.

Can I buy a piece that I have seen in the shop window?

Yes, most of our pieces are available to paint so please ask. You can also come down and copy something you like.
